News & Updates

In June, our Salt Lakers teams participated in two big tournaments, Big Mountain Jam (BMJ) & Rocky Mountain Showcase (RMS). These tournaments are nationally recognized tournaments & our girls were not afraid of the big stage. In the BMJ tournament our teams struggled with getting wins & we ended the tournament going 5-7 overall. However, they all made huge improvements; as our Gold Team (4th) was playing in their first tournament against other girl’s teams. Before this, their only experience had been against boy’s teams. Their aggressiveness on defense was a positive sight to see for such a young group & they ended this tournament getting 3rd place in their division. Our Blue Team (5th) learned from late in-game mistakes & as you keep reading, you’ll see they used what they’ve learned in the RMS tournament the following weekend. Our 7th grade team played in their very first tournament together for BMJ & they struggled meshing together as a team. However, they also made big improvements & grew together in the RMS tournament.
Now, on to the next weekend… Our teams showed up to RMS & played their hearts out! We ended this weekend with an overall record of 9-4 & made it to two championship games. Our Gold Team (4th) took 3rd place again & won some close games. Keeping them together going into our fall/winter season will be vital for the growth of this young up-and-coming team. Our Blue Team had the best game of their season so far, playing against CO premier. Our girls fought adversity & came out with a big win in the semi-final game. They got to the championship & although the results didn’t end in a gold medal, this group of girls played so hard & never gave up. Us coaches couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls as they have played together the longest & have set a positive example for all of our teams. Our 7th grade team also took 2nd place in their division & received silver medals. This team went 1-3 the week before at BMJ but that didn’t stop them from continuing to get better & work hard. They went 3-1, losing a close game in the championship by only 4 points. The trend is upward & the sky is the limit for our Salt Lakers Teams. We are proud to be their coaches & can’t wait to see what the future holds for our Salt Lakers Family. Come out & support us this coming fall/winter season. You won’t want to miss it!
